With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Peggy Lavone Whittaker (Owensboro, Kentucky), who passed away on March 18, 2019 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her son Thomas Dorsey Whittaker of Owensboro; her grandchildren, Robert "Tyler" Whittaker, Michael Jacob Whittaker, Thomas Denim Whittaker and Timothy Daryl Whitaker; her great grandchild Delia Riley Whittaker; and her brother Michael E. Lacefield.

“My memory of 'Cousin Peggy': she and my Aunt Ann were life long friends. I remember hearing about their single girl adventures. They would come to our home on Hathaway Street and I would watch them get "dolled up" to go out on a Saturday night (they would put makeup 💄 on me!) One memory in particular when (in late 1940s or early 1950s ) a photographer took beautiful pictures of them in sweaters/pearls and drapes and displayed them in the window of his studio on Main Street in Owensboro....My Dad, their uncle, thought it was scandalous and told the photographer to remove them....later when I graduated HS it was the trend to have your graduation 👩‍🎓 picture taken the same way.... 80 years later and they still talked once a month...we all should have a friendship like Peggy and my Aunt Ann Lacefield Langley .... my sincere condolences to her family.”
