He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Virgil and Catherine "Polly" McCormick Gentry; and his siblings, Doug, Monroe, Bill, Kenneth, Joe Gentry, Vicki Baker, Mildred Clayton, Bernice Spalding, Margaret Todd and Gaye White.
He is survived by: his wife Julie Murphy Gentry; his sons, Lonnie Gentry (Elizabeth), Brandon Gentry (Emily) and Mark Gentry; his grandchildren, Ally, Kacy, Molly, Ellis, Winston, Greyson, Hayden and Theo; and his siblings, Raymond, Terry, Sam Gentry, Faye Alexander, Debbie Carroll, Louise Rickard and Evelyn Rivet. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews.
