He was predeceased by: his parents, John Robert Rice and Mary Lee Morris; his brother Charles Alan Rice; and his grandparents, Robert Lee, Mary Ruth Morris, John Evan and Margaret Ellen Rice.

He is survived by: his wife Leigh Ann Rice; his children, Matthew York, Jessica York (Jeremy), Emalee Havener (Corey) and Marifrances Rice (Timothy); and his siblings, Robert Eugene "Bobby" Rice (Martha) and Pamala Lynn Rice. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
