He was predeceased by: his parent John L. Bender; his daughter Cecilia Agnes Bender; and his siblings, Mary Catherine Greenwell, Mary Loyola Bender, George William Bender and John Harold Bender.
He is survived by: his parent Mary Cecilia Hayes Bender; his wife Rose Mary Bender; his sons, Joseph Paul Bender, Jr. of Portland, OR, Stephen Wayne Bender and James Anthony Bender (Christie); his grandchildren, Melissa Ann Carter (Brad), Sarah Elizabeth Blubaum (Ross), James Christopher Bender (Holli) and Mary Jennifer Carrico (Brad); and his great grandchildren, Lane, Henry, Harry, Tim, Ben, Kathrynn Grace Carter, Emilie Bender, Chase Blubaum and Emma Rose.
