He was predeceased by: his parents, Noel Rhodes and Ora Christian Rhodes; his wife Betty L. Galloway Rhodes; his sons, Ray J. Rhodes and James A. "Jim" Rhodes; his siblings, Mary Evelyn Barrett, William Ignatius "Nish" Rhodes and Bernard Rhodes; and his granddaughter Sara Sorenson.

He is survived by: his children, Sue Beth Rhodes Sorenson of Storm Lake, Iowa and Tom Rhodes (Betty) of Owensboro; his grandchildren, Joseph Sorenson (Sandy) of Wichita, Mary Sorenson Ludwig (Bret) of Lakeview, Kevin Rhodes (Dawn) of Owensboro and Kaylen Rhodes of Owensboro; his great grandchildren, Baylee Rhodes, Juliana, Oakley Sorenson, Dakota Pratt, Tyrei Monet Lofton, Tristin and Emerson Ludwig; and his siblings, Laura Rhodes and Shirley Rhodes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
