He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Cox and Irene Cox; his brother L. B. Cox; and his half-brother Leroy Cox. He is survived by: his wife Thelma Roberts Cox; his sons, John R. Cox and Scott W. Cox (Yvonne) of Owensboro; his grandchildren, Bailey Cox, Scott Jacob Cox, Megan Young, Jessica Sowders, Hannah Cox, Brianna Cox and Drew Murray; and his sister Winnie Pearl Henderson of Morgantown. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
