He was predeceased by: his parents, John L. Oberst, Jr. and Mariam Gladys Kasey Oberst; his siblings, Joyce Ann Arron, Michael Kerry Oberst and Edward Kasey; and his brother-in-law Phil Mullins.

He is survived by: his daughter Kerrie Overall (Cary) of Owensboro; his former wife Debby Oberst of Owensboro; his sisters, Linda Walker (John) of Hopkinsville and Betty Barr (Charlie) of Owensboro; his nieces, Shannon Holzrichter (Mark) of Crofton and Dorothy Lomax (Bobby) of Owensboro; and his nephew Captain Tim Hill (Lara) of Orlando.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Owensboro-Daviess Co. Humane Society.
