Janice Hale wrote a sympathy message

“Anna, Jay came into our lives when he enrolled in the Delta Truck Driving Academy. Donnie was one of his instructors. He would mention Jay's ability to drive, saying he was more like an "old school driver" than a student. Before long he started coming to our house so he and Donnie could talk about trucks. I learned he loved NASCAR, so I invited him and he started coming up to watch races with me. He just seemed to fit right into our family. He loved my parents and would stop in to see them when he could. He had asked me if I would consider letting him be a pall bearer for them when their time came. He said it was an honor to him, and I know it was for me too. I just can't believe he won't be here anymore. I will miss him as I miss my other family members. I'm sending prayers for your broken heart.”

“RIP Jay. I am still in shock about Jay's death. Here are some of my memories of Jay I would like to share. I remember in middle school Jay would ride his bike on my street. I would always come out and talk to him. All the kids on my street always thought Jay had the coolest bike ever. Jay was always so nice and kind to all the kids. Jay and I used to talk on the phone quite often when we were in middle school. I always remembered he loved AC/DC. He would put his speaker up to the phone and wanted to listen to AC/DC and hoping I would like them as much as he did. Jay was always nice and kind to me in school. He was a good friend. I have not seen Jay since high school. I have my memories of him that I will always keep close to me. Prayers to Jay's family. RIP Jay, my friend.”
