He was predeceased by: his parents, James Louis Sr. and Rose Abell Wilkins; his wife Brenda Swank Wilkins; and his brother Jesse Wilkins. He is survived by: his daughters, Katrina Oost and Mischelle Tolson; and his siblings, Nora Lee (Bill) and Billy Wilkins (Robin Bartlett).
