He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Mattingly and Lockie Smith Mattingly of West Louisville, KY.; his son Jeff Mattingly; his children-in-law, Chrisie Burr Mattingly and Jerry Jackson; and his brother-in-law Paul Payne.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Evelyn Thomas Mattingly; his children, Gayle Mattingly Jackson, Rhonda Mattingly Beck (Richard) and Greg Mattingly (Angie); his grandchildren, James E. Jackson, Russ M. Jackson (Katherine), Lindsay Mattingly (Cindy), Shannon Clark Phillips (Karl), Melissa Clark Smith (Jake), Michael Mattingly and Josh Mattingly (Kim); his stepgrandchildren, Kandice Burr Gray (Bobby) and Ryan Burr; and his sister Carol Ann Payne. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
