He was predeceased by: his parents, James M. Hicks and Ruth Byrum Hicks of Virginia. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Outland Hicks; his children, James Nelson Hicks (Joni Bocianoski) of Owensboro, Jennifer Kyser (Marvin) of Lewisville, Melissa McCaffrey (Jerry) of Pointe Verde and Amy Hicks (Tom Ormerod) of Palm Harbor, Florida; and his grandson Tristin Standish. He is also survived by one niece, one nephew, two great-nephews.
