He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Earl and Martha Louis Hardy Mitchell; his son Joseph "Jody" Franklin Mitchell; and his brother Gene Mitchell. He is survived by: his children, Gilbert Earl Mitchell Jr. of Owensboro, Regina Royal (David) of Philpot and David Mitchell (Sondra) of Tell City, IN; his sister JoAnn Fulton (Jerry) of Owensboro; his sister-in-law Kim Mitchell of Owensboro; his stepson Larry King of Owensboro; his nephew Beau Mitchell (Laura Beth) of Owensboro; and his friends, John and Lee Goatee of Owensboro. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
