He was predeceased by: his parents, William Goebel Thompson and Myra Victoria Payne Thompson; and his former wife Rita Hayden Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Carol "June" Witherspoon Thompson; his children, Ray Thompson (Jackie) of Birdseye, IN, Marie Robinson of Liberty, NC, Mary Dean of Sandston, VA, Deborah Peech (Ricky) of Hartford, Joe Thompson (Tomasina) of Apopka, FL, Rita Smith of Louisville and John Thompson (Marnie) of Chicago, IL; and his stepsons, Bob Hamby of Henderson and Jeff Phillips (Susan) of Evansville. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
