With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Eugene James Thompson of Owensboro, Kentucky, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Goebel Thompson and Myra Victoria Payne Thompson; and his former wife Rita Hayden Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Carol "June" Witherspoon Thompson; his children, Ray Thompson (Jackie) of Birdseye, IN, Marie Robinson of Liberty, NC, Mary Dean of Sandston, VA, Deborah Peech (Ricky) of Hartford, Joe Thompson (Tomasina) of Apopka, FL, Rita Smith of Louisville and John Thompson (Marnie) of Chicago, IL; and his stepsons, Bob Hamby of Henderson and Jeff Phillips (Susan) of Evansville. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Precious Blood Catholic Church (3306 Fenmore St, Owensboro, KY 42301). A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery (1860 W 9th St, Owensboro, KY 42303).
