He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark R. Howard and Ollie Watkins Howard; and his wife Lillian Lee Higgs. He is survived by: his sons, Jim Howard (Rebecca), Ron Howard (Jane) and Roger Howard (Sharon); his sister Cloia Campbell; his grandchildren, Linette Howard Johnson, Michele Howard Sparks, Vicki Richardson (Lou), Roger Howard Jr. (Rebekah) and Brook Youngman (Brad); and his stepgrandchildren, Frank Burton, Andrew Owsley Michael Owsley, Zach Bertram and Maggie Hawes. He is also survived by 23 great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Western Kentucky Veterans Center, 926 Veterans Drive, Hanson, KY 42413.
