She was predeceased by: her parents, Russell S. Shifley and Ruey Ethel Swift Shifley; her husband David W. Smithson; and her brother Russell "Rick" Shifley. She is survived by: her sons, Anthony Smithson (Toby) of Hilton Head, S. C., Denny Smithson (Julie) of Hilton Head, S. C. and Mark Smithson (Susan) of Louisville; her grandchildren, Blair Smithson (Amy) of Owensboro, Ben Smithson (Sibyl) of Brooklyn, N. Y., Matthew Smithson (Julie) of Gypsum, Andrew Smithson of Chicago, Gregory Smithson (Jordan) of Nicholasville, Chay Smithson (Amy) of Louisville, Sara Smithson of Asheville, N. C. and Zach Stern (Carolyn) of Sugar Hill; and her great grandchild Norah Smithson of Gypsum.
