He was predeceased by: his parents, Mike Shaffer and Gussie Shaffer (Newman); his son James Wayne Shaffer; his siblings, Clara E. Roberson, Lillie M. Stone, George Shaffer and Carl Shaffer; and his niece Jennifer Rhodes.
He is survived by: his wife C. Yvonne Shaffer (Burris); his son John A Shaffer (Bryanne) of Fordsville; his grandsons, Scott Shaffer of Owensboro, Eli Shaffer of Fordsville and Luke Shaffer of Fordsville; and his sister Kathy M. Byrne.
