He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Leo Mattingly and Susanna Ignatius Payne; his wife Mary E. Mattingly; and his siblings, Betty Lou Whitlow, Joe Thomas, Richard Samuel and Russell Henry "Sonny" Mattingly.
He is survived by: his daughters, Debra Shelton (Joe) and Kim Greer (Jeff); his grandchildren, Justin Brumley (Megan), Alexis Tucker (Ty), Jacob Shelton (Kalyn) and Austin Cook; his great grandchildren, Luke, Miles and Oliver; and his siblings, Wanda Aull, Barbara Payne, Bill Mattingly and Charlie Mattingly. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
