We are sad to announce that on July 1, 2023, at the age of 91, Bettye J Winstead Burns of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Presley Winstead and Lee Chester Dixon Winstead; her husband Booker T Burns; her son Nathaniel Chapman, Jr.; her stepfather James Robert Crump; and her siblings, Samuel Lee Winstead, William Ray Winstead, James Roy Winstead, Bruce Presley Winstead, Lawrence Edward Winstead, Sr., Wilbur Henry Winstead and Sara Gray Grundy.
She is survived by: her children, Kaye Davidson, Gloria Brock (Ernie) of Roswell and Ron Chapman of Maui, Hawaii; and her siblings, Walter Winstead (Juanita) and Gloria Horne. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
