She is survived by: her niece Patricia J. "P. J."; her nephew Jack William Horrell of Louisville; her great-nephew Christopher Horrell of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her great-nieces, Jill Morrison and Heidi Hagerman; and her close friend Sandra Woods.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home; 2501 Old Hartford Road; Owensboro, Kentucky 42303.

“On behalf of the family of Fern Fowler, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of Fern’s (my mom) best friend. Mom passed in 2012. We “kids,” Leanne, Linda, and John loved Bertha Mae so much. We always called her “gold shoes.” Great memories of her and Mom sitting at the kitchen table talking about their days at GE. We had no idea she was at the Carmel Home. We would have definitely visited. God Bless You all and comfort you during this time. Linda Fowler Glore”
