He was predeceased by: his father Benjamin C. Atkinson,; his daughter Melissa Atkinson; his stepfather Deeny Monroe Gilmore; and his siblings, George Gilmore and Nadine Ranson.
He is survived by: his children, Samantha Edgell (Dewayne) of Maceo and Benjamin C. Atkinson III of Evansville; and his siblings, Bobby Gilmore (Trish) of Owensboro, Terry Gilmore (Hazel) of London, England, Bessie K. Luttrell of Maceo and Billie Wilhite (Vince) of Owensboro. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
