He was predeceased by: his parents, Abe Gilbert and Eliza Jane Couch Gilbert; his son Freddie Wayne Gilbert; and his siblings, Pharis Gilbert, Isaac Gilbert, Chester Gilbert, Chanie Gilbert Brewster, Estill Gilbert, Mannon Gilbert, Naomi Gilbert Crawford, Colonel Gilbert, Roy Gilbert, Monroe Gilbert and Fred Gilbert.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Ann Davidson Gilbert; his children, Jennings Gilbert of Somerset, John Carmon Gilbert (Judi) of London, Billy Joe Gilbert (Marianne) of Oneida, Vickie Joyce Runion of Manchester and Tommy Gilbert (Margie) of Teges, Kentucky.; his brother Grant Gilbert (Shirley) of Las Vegas; and his grandchildren, Kris, Jennie, Kevin, Joshua, John Wayne of Prema, B. J., Ashley, Kimberly, Michelle and Matthew.
