He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmitt Purvis and Emma Cook Purvis; his siblings, Tommy Purvis, Emmitt Purvis, Peggy Smith and Gail Reece; and his grandson Dakota Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Debbie Purvis; his children, John Wayne Purvis II (Tiffany), Salena Purvis Ferguson (Rocky), Crystal Montjoy Day (Jesse) and Leslie Montjoy; his siblings, Jenny Landrum, Pansy Peel, Bobby Purvis, Rosie Brasington, Darlene Holder and Lisa Baker; his grandchildren, Harlie, Kourtney and Robert Ferguson; and his siblings, Branson of Malleigh, J. P., Tallorie, Deegan, Paydin Purvis, Brianna, Makenna, Jacob Day, Braeden Montjoy, Amiah, Avery Valenti and Deborah McCarty. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help with burial expenses.
