He was predeceased by: his father James Romie; his son Curtis Whitaker; his grandson Wyatt Whitaker; and his siblings, Jimmy Whitaker, Margaret Wells, Mary Blades, Mildred Rickard and Dorothy Rose.
He is survived by: his sons, Kenny Whitaker (Jocelyn), Ricky Whitaker (Mary) and Mike Whitaker (Karon); his wife Martha Hughlett; his grandchildren, Wayne Whitaker (Christy), Krista Greer (Arian), Sara Reese (John), Jeni Garrett (Aaron), Amber Vincent, Kaylan Bullock (Justin), Maverick Whitaker (Megan), Mackenzie Pogue (Alex), Holden Whitaker, Angie Littlepage (Travis) and Nick Long; his great grandchildren, Grace, Braden, Lillie, Ari, Eva, Romie, Ann Wyatt, Cole, Bristol, Mason, Stella, Riley, Keagan, Hayes, Malin, Sawyer, Chase, Maddie and Bronzen; his close friend Sue Whitaker; and his brother Bill Whitaker.
