She was predeceased by: her parent Willie; her son Wendell Higgins; her brother-in-law Albert Vest; and her cousin Rev. Tony L.. She is survived by: her sons, Anthony L. Hughes (Julia) and Dwight E. Hughes (Pamela); her granddaughter Wendy S. Ross III (James); her great grandchildren, Desmond Dickerson (Amber) and Donovan Dickerson (Shanique); her grandchildren, Jay Andrew Prentice, Marcia Dedrick, Celi N. Moore (Traye) and Tyrone K. Simpson (Toleka); her sister Jacqueline Vest; her cousins, Jo Mae Bradshaw, Edwina Taylor, Arlene Jones and Sis; and also Susan Hughes Prentice (Jay). She is also survived by cousins and friends.
The Lord truly blessed her in 2020 to finally hold her two youngest great-grandchildren born in the Covid-19 period when visitation in hospitals was not allowed.
