He was predeceased by: his parents, Mae Patterson and Wade Patterson; his stepmother Elizabeth Patterson; his brother Danny-Dale Patterson; and his mother-in-law Thelma McHugh.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Lundergan Patterson; his children, Carl Patterson (April) of Texas, Tim Patterson Cincinnati (Tonya), William Patterson Jr. Lexington (Christine), Katie Fleming Shelbyville (Chris Carder) and Kristopher Riffe Lexington (Blossom); his grandchildren, Ryleigh Kate Fleming, Leni Clair Riffe, Cierra Patterson, Taylor Patterson, William "Tripp" Patterson III, Jacob Patterson, Anna Patterson and Phoebe Patterson; and his siblings, Rita Maxwell, Wade Douglas Patterson and James Eric Patterson. He is also survived by his brother and sister in laws and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made in the memory of William "Bill" Patterson to Hospice of the Bluegrass-Care Navigators.
