He is survived by: his wife Margret Smith; his children, Doug Smith (Bethany) of Lexington, KY and Sherry Simpson of Lexington, KY; his grandchildren, Ali Simpson, Matthew Simpson, Nick Smith and Lane Smith; and his great grandchildren, Maddox Simpson, Brycen Simpson and Whitney Watson. He is also survived by four brothers, three sisters.
