He was predeceased by: his parents, William Elmer and Jean Griffith Latta; and his sister Susan Daughtery. He is survived by: his children, Shannon Shadbolt (Jody) and WIlliam Latta (Kim); his sister Bonnie Kreinar (Charles) of Chapel Hill, NC; his grandchildren, Brooke Resler, Ravyn Lacey, Nicholas Latta and Danica Duty; and his great grandchildren, Madelyn and Henry Resler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
