He was predeceased by: his wife Patsy Johnson; his parents, Earl Johnson and Marjorie Johnson; his grandson Andrew Wayne Johnson; and his nephew Ricky Martin.
He is survived by: his children, Leslie Chapman, Toni Johnson, Anthony Johnson Jr., Scotty Johnson, Janet Johnson, Donna Johnson and Dana Johnson; and his siblings, Jesse Johnson, Randall Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Sammy Johnson, Ceil Bryan, Mary Nalley, Theresa Donahue, Maggie Jackson and Annette Price. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
