He was predeceased by: his parents, Dolphus Wilson and Edith Simpson Wilson; and his wife Sandra Sue Hunley Wilson. He is survived by: his son David "Rusty" Wilson, Jr. (Matina) of Nancy; his granddaughter Shelby Lynn Simpson (Chad) of Eubank; and his siblings, Wayne Wilson (Joyce) of Somerset and Jan Stringer (Gerald) of Nancy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other family members.
