He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Schlegel and Mayhulda Schlegel (Geiser); his son Kenneth Schlegel; and his siblings, Richard Schlegel, Albert Schlegel, Melvin Schlegel, Alvin Schlegel, Clarence Schlegel, Marie Nagel, Erna Duckworth, Mildred Brugger, Frieda Wendel and Vanita Randol.
He is survived by: his wife Lavada Ann Heuring; and his daughter Janice Winder of Murray, Kentucky. He is also survived by three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
