He is survived by: his wife Penelope Mears Unsel; his son Phelps Unsel, Jr.; his sisters, Shelby Joles and Donna Unsel; and his granddaughters, Amy Parnell and Erin Unsel. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
