He was predeceased by: his father James Norris Cathey; his stepmother Elsie Cathey; his mother Elizabeth Furches; and his stepfather Thurston Furches. He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Maddox Cathey of Murray; his children, Brandon Cathey of Benton, KY, Shannon Cathey (Carrie) of Benton, KY, Lindy McManus (Bryan) of Murray, KY and Leah Oakley (Scott) of Benton, KY; his siblings, Tripp Furches (Sharon) of Murray, KY, Gail Turner (Lanny) of Murray, KY and Debbie Benes (Mark) of Las Vegas, NV; his grandchildren, Christian Cathey, Myles McManus, Braiden Cathey, Kinsley Cathey, Braxton Oakley, Josey McManus, Briley Cathey, Charlee Cathey and Colt Oakley; and his great grandchild Asher Puckett.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Gideon International.
