He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Dowdy and Audie Bolen Dowdy; his wife Martha Bland Dowdy; and his siblings, Magdalene Collie, Kathleen Bean, Gladys Dowdy, Richard (R. L.), James and Edward J. Dowdy (Bobby).
He is survived by: his son Greg Dowdy (Robyn); his granddaughter Emily Artress (Robbie); and his sisters, Juanita Barrow and Valera Finney.
