She was predeceased by: her parents, Gillard Cathey and Moselle Puckett; her husband Elmo Gardner; her stepmother Mary Joyner; her sons, Ronnie and Bobby Gardner; and her siblings, Frankie Cathey and Evelene Norwood.
She is survived by: her children, Larry Sledd of Mt. Vernon, Russell Sledd (Kathy) of Almo and Barbara Windsor (Randy) of Lynn Grove; her brother Bill Cathey (Eilene) of Aurora; her stepfather Glenn Joyner of Murray; and her grandchildren, Mitzi Adams (Jimmy), Michael Windsor (Sonya), Mitchell Windsor (Sharon), Dawn Lamb (Johnny), Tony Sledd (Casey), Christy Sledd, Eddie Sledd (Nicki) and Chasidy Blankenship (Brett). She is also survived by 18 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
