He was predeceased by: his parents, Quinn Thompson and Amanda Barbour Thompson; his daughter Jocelyn R. Shaw; and his siblings, Phyllis Thompson, Myrtle Stewart, Doretha Brewer, Geraldine Dixon, Joyce Thompson, Daniel Thompson, Donald Thompson and Wendell Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Waggoner Thompson; his son Rev. Langston D. Payton (Emily); his grandchildren, Marcus Sherlock, Langsley Shaw (Olivia), Quinn Shaw, Aubrien Wallace, Teairra Payton, Morgan Cortes, Brianna Payton, Markaythia Thompson and Annie Wallace; and his great grandchildren, Zoe Jackson, Talani Brown and E. Cortes. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
