He is survived by: his wife Naomi Rice Atherton; and his children, Steve Atherton (Ursula), Larry Atherton (Michelle), Brenda Gourley (Richard) and Patricia Lerding (Leroy). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
