He was predeceased by: his father Claude Downey; his grandparents, Lesley, Kizzy Coppage, Pete and Lou Willie Downey; his sister Catherine Downey; and his son Destry Downey.
He is survived by: his wife Diann Downey (Huddleston); his children, Aaron Tyra and Tracy Taylor; his grandson Eric Taylor (Megan); his great grandchildren, Kolton and Wyatt; and his siblings, Wanda Lane, Randall Downey (Betty), Lucy McFarland, Ray Downey (Nancy), Helen May (Terry) and Danny Downey (Rita).
