She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Vanwinkle and Elizabeth Robinson Vanwinkle; her husband Earl Atwell; and her siblings, Henry Vanwinkle, Jacob Vanwinkle, Ruth Richards, Ruby Vessels Allen, Mandy Vanzant, Elsie Cameron and Pearl Cameron. She is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews, as well as one great niece.
