He was predeceased by: his brother Marvin Lawrence Carpenter; and his brother-in-law Paul Lowery, Jr. (Carpenter). He is survived by: his parents, James Carpenter and Mary Delphia Cope Carpenter; his wife Teresa Turner Carpenter; his children, Frances Katherine Hensley of Mt. Vernon, Joshua Wayne Nagel (Vola) of Disputana, Dallas Cope of Big Hill and Andrew Mark Nagel (Anna) of Cincinnati, OH; his sister Linda Lowery of Disputana; and his half-sisters, Margie and Faye. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
