He is survived by: his wife Icie Owens Poynter; his children, Mark Poynter (Sheila), Greg Poynter (Kim), David Poynter (Yolonda) and Lora Joan Poynter; his grandchildren, Adam Poynter, Zach Poynter (Samantha) and Sarah Poynter Nordine (Ethan); his stepgrandchildren, Kristina Lowery, Erica and Patric; his brother James Russell Poynter (Ann); his nephews, Russell Edward Poynter (Anna), Duke Gibson and Earl Poynter; and his niece Suann Hensley (Brady).
