He was predeceased by: his wife Alma Ruth Kirby Hayes; his children, Mary Owens, Ottis Hayes and Lois Cummins; his siblings, Elizabeth Owens, Geneva Hayes, Beatrice Hensley, Edna Miller, Oma Mullins and Bill Hayes; his grandchild Brandon Cummins; and his great grandchild Ainsley Kathryn Hayes.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Hayes of Mt. Vernon, Gary Hayes (Jeanne) of Mt. Vernon, Larry Hayes of Mt. Vernon, Regina Goforth of Mt. Vernon, Jeff Hayes (Morrissa) of Mt. Vernon and Janis Loudermilk (Johnny) of Mt. Vernon; his brother Floyd Hayes (Lena); his grandchildren, Jeffery Shannon Hayes (Lauren), Eric Hayes, Ashley Hayes, Rachel Hayes, Jordan Carpenter and Joshua Goforth; and his great grandchildren, Dustin and Braylon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends.
