He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam and Deford; his wife Janet Faye Norris Shrout; his daughter Jana Shrout Goodpaster; and his brother Lee Shrout.
He is survived by: his sons, Sam Shrout (Della) of Lexington and Julian Shrout (Tammi) of Mt. Sterling; his grandchildren, Gloria Donithan (Ricky) of Mt. Sterling, Emily Rhodes (Jason) of Mt. Sterling, Max Shrout of Phoenix and Haley Shrout of Mt. Sterling; and his great grandchildren, Lexie Donithan of Mt. Sterling, Caroline Donithan of Mt. Sterling, Ford Rhodes of Mt. Sterling, Cadence Rhodes of Mt. Sterling and Caleb Rhodes of Mt. Sterling. He is also survived by his family and friends.
