He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Gemmer and Virginia Gemmer; and his sister Marjorie Hobbs. He is survived by: his girlfriend Norma Kroth; his sons, Rob Gemmer and Jack Gemmer, Jr.; his grandsons, Ezra Gemmer and Kenton Gemmer; and his siblings, Nancy Vanmeter and William Gemmer. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
