He was predeceased by: his parents, John Courtney and Mildred Nichols Courtney; and his brothers, Dale Courtney, Bruce Cowan, Billy Steve Cowan and Jerry Buchanan.

He is survived by: his siblings, Joann Cowan of Sturgis, KY, Rose Hess (Randy) of Morganfield, KY, Sherri Gwaltney (Jack) of Norris City, IL, James Courtney of Summerset, OH, Roger Courtney of Mineral Bluff, GA and Rick Wayne of Carmi, IL. He is also survived by Nieces and Nephews.
