She was predeceased by: her parents, Jessie C. Thompson and Eva Lewis Thompson; her husband James M. Messer; and her brothers, James Virgil Thompson and John Robert Thompson.
She is survived by: her children, Keith Messer (Lorene) and Jennifer Jones (Bill); and her sister Susie Cassidy of Morehead. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
