He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Charles and Juanita Miller Charles; his son Kenneth "Buddy" Charles; his grandson Corey Maynard; and his brother James "Jimmy" Charles.
He is survived by: his wife Amaryllis Charles (Smith); his children, Melissia "Missi" Kirk (Eddie) of Salt Lick and Larry "Scooter" Charles (Melinda) of Lakeview Heights; his grandchildren, Tyler Maynard, Kenna Barker (Austin), Easton and Maddux Charles; his great grandchildren, Charlie Maynard and Zander Barker; and his siblings, Gail Bevins (Terry) of Shelbiana, Paul Ray Charles (Marcie) of Phelps and Sandy Bevins (Jim) of South Williamson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
