He was predeceased by: his parents, W. H. "Bill" Carter and Lydia Susan Moore Carter; his siblings, Lois Anne Holley (Jack), Joe and Billy; and his in-laws, Ray Lee and Ethel Mae Hall White.
He is survived by: his wife Rebecca White Carter; his children, Joe Carter (Amy) of Morehead, Kentucky, Sally Dettwiller (Ed) of Greenfield and Sandy Eldridge (Randy) of Morehead, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Caralyne Carter, Hannah Eldridge, Jake Eldridge, Maggie Dettwiller McKay (Andrew), Molly Dettwiller Sullivan and Emily Dettwiller Waltz (Chris); his great grandchildren, Carter, Katlyn Waltz, Emerson, Annie and Olivia McKay; his brother Roger Carter (Carol) of West Liberty; and his sister-in-law Lyda White of Morehead. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; cousins; extended family; and very dear friends.
