He is survived by: his mother Maxine Horton Pennington of Morehead; his children, Mary Kegley (Brad) of Georgetown and Scotty Pennington (Blain) of Louisville; his grandchildren, Hunter Kegley of Georgetown, Parker, Channing and Hadley Pennington of Louisville; and his siblings, Wendell Pennington (Marilyn) of Louisville, Lowell Pennington, Jr. (Judy) of Morehead, Julia McClurg (Lee) of Morehead, Randy Pennington, Sr. of Morehead, Dwane Pennington of Morehead, Dennis Pennington of Morehead, Linda Hollis (Baker) of Morehead, Thomas Pennington of Morehead and Rusty Pennington (Sandi) of Woodstock. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
