He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Carpenter and Rosie Kimbler Carpenter; his wife Rosetta Smith Carpenter; his children, David Allen Carpenter and Pearl Ann Carpenter; and his siblings, Marlin Carpenter, Erza Carpenter, Mark Carpenter and Thlema Darlington.
He is survived by: his daughter Debra Carpenter of Morehead; and his siblings, Kenneth Carpenter (Minnie) of Vanceburg, Gary Carpenter (Pat) of Vanceburg, Robin Carpenter (Betty) of Vanceburg, Bill Carpenter (Karen) of Flemingsburg, Fred Carpenter (Connie) of Flemingsburg, Fredia Jarrell of Vanceburg, Brenda Cropper (Billy) of Vanceburg, Lizzie Carpenter of Flemingsburg, Annie Reid (Tommie) of Flemingsburg and Donna Hesler (John) of Maysville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; his special cat, "Tommy Ray"; and other extended family and friends.
