He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Ethel Kidd Smith and Raymond Harold Smith; his brothers, Michael Ray Smith and Mark Anthony Smith; and his brother-in-law Daniel Ray Bush.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Ward; his sons, Charles Allen Smith Jr. (Jamie) of Madison and Joshua Allen Smith of Deputy, Indiana; his grandchildren, Joshua Allen Smith Jr., McKenzie Jo Smith, Ava Marie Smith and Jackson Charles Smith; his siblings, Barbara Bush of Madison, Indiana and Tommy Smith of Texas; and his sisters-in-law, Diana Sue Smith of Madison and Jeannette Romans of Deputy, Indiana. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
